For Events Industry Night Out 2023, Evolution Prop Shop transformed a hotel bar at Grand Mövenpick Hotel Media City into an immersive fantasy environment built around the visual language of an enchanted forest.
The installation combined a giant dragon prop with dense botanical styling, moss-covered surfaces, decorative rocks, woodland accessories, illuminated features and smaller styling details. Working within an operational hotel and a restricted installation programme, the Prop Shop team coordinated the themed elements to create a cohesive environment that extended from the entrance through to the main lounge areas.
The Challenge
Transforming an existing hotel bar into a convincing fantasy setting required the Prop Shop team to introduce a substantial volume of themed material without losing the identity of the overall concept.
The installation also presented practical challenges. Large props had to be transported through limited lift access shared with hotel service staff, while the available installation window was tight. The team therefore prepared as much as possible in advance and arrived early on site, helping to reduce assembly requirements within the venue and allowing the larger decorative elements to be positioned efficiently.
Creative Styling Approach
The creative direction centred on building an enchanted woodland through layers rather than relying on a single statement feature.
Tall tropical foliage and trees established height and enclosed sections of the interior, while moss, bark, grasses, textured botanical forms and pale decorative rocks created detail closer to floor level. Coloured lighting introduced green, blue and purple tones through the planting, giving the foliage additional depth and strengthening the fantasy character of the environment.
A white decorative bridge framed with trailing greenery extended the woodland treatment through a circulation route, creating a visual transition between different areas of the installation.
Props and Decorative Features
The giant dragon formed one of the principal fantasy props within the setting. Positioned amongst dense greenery, moss-covered forms and decorative rocks, it appeared integrated into the landscape rather than presented as a standalone display.
Large illuminated EINO letters created another focal point. The marquee-style lettering was surrounded by moss, ornamental grasses and rounded green botanical forms, allowing a recognisable event feature to sit naturally within the enchanted forest treatment.
Smaller details completed the styling at close range. Geometric glass lanterns containing candles and moss were placed across tables, while rustic wooden crates, potted greenery, bark, artificial rocks and varied foliage introduced different textures throughout the installation. An ornate gold frame was also incorporated as a decorative display feature amongst the planting.
Together, these elements allowed the concept to operate at several scales, from the oversized dragon and illuminated lettering to the smaller accessories encountered throughout the space.
Project Outcome
The completed environment replaced the conventional appearance of the hotel bar with a richly layered fantasy setting.
Oversized themed props provided immediate visual impact, while the surrounding woodland treatment ensured that the transformation continued beyond individual focal points. Moss, planting, decorative rocks, illuminated lettering and tabletop accessories provided detail throughout the space, with coloured lighting further changing the appearance of the installation as a whole.
The project demonstrated Evolution Prop Shop's ability to combine large-scale event props with detailed decorative styling while responding to the access and installation constraints of a live hospitality venue.
Project Ecosystem
