Evolution Prop Shop transformed the Main Ballroom at Atlantis, The Palm into a Hollywood-inspired setting for a corporate function in Dubai, supplying and installing a coordinated collection of cinematic props and decorative features.

From illuminated archways and movie poster displays to oversized film props, red carpet styling and an awards-inspired stage feature, the installation created a strong visual journey through the venue. With only three hours available between events, the project also required carefully coordinated installation and precise handling of several large-format props within restricted access conditions.

The Challenge

The creative direction called for recognisable Hollywood imagery without relying on a single decorative feature to establish the theme. Instead, the ballroom needed a collection of props that could work together to create a cohesive cinematic environment, beginning with the entrance and continuing into the main event space.

Installation presented an additional challenge. Large illuminated arches and oversized decorative pieces had to be positioned through restricted venue access, while the entire transformation needed to be completed within a three-hour window between events.

This made sequencing particularly important. Each element needed to arrive, move through the venue and be positioned efficiently so that the complete decorative installation could be delivered within the available timeframe.

Creative Styling Approach

Evolution Prop Shop approached the styling as a visual journey inspired by classic cinema and Hollywood awards culture.

The arrival route became one of the strongest features of the installation. Repeated illuminated arches formed a theatrical tunnel over the red carpet, creating depth and immediately establishing the Hollywood theme. Illuminated poster frames were positioned along the route, while gold stanchions and red velvet ropes reinforced the red-carpet aesthetic.

Beyond the entrance, oversized cinema props extended the theme throughout the venue. A large clapperboard, film reel with trailing filmstrip and director's chair introduced instantly recognisable filmmaking references, while the awards-inspired figure positioned on the main stage provided a statement feature within the ballroom.

Rather than treating the props as isolated decorative pieces, their placement allowed the Hollywood visual language to continue from the entrance through to the principal event space.

Props and Decorative Features

Evolution Prop Shop supplied and installed the complete collection of Hollywood-themed props and decorative elements visible throughout the project. The illuminated archways were used repeatedly along the red carpet to create a dramatic entrance sequence. Their integrated globe lighting referenced classic dressing-room and theatre lighting while giving the installation a strong architectural rhythm.

Illuminated poster-style frames introduced another layer of cinema-inspired detailing alongside the walkway. Gold stanchions with red velvet ropes framed the route and reinforced the premiere-style presentation.

Oversized props provided additional focal points throughout the venue. These included a large-scale movie clapperboard, an oversized film reel with an extended filmstrip and a director's chair. Their exaggerated scale allowed familiar filmmaking objects to function as statement decorative features rather than smaller accessories.

The main ballroom continued the theme through the awards-inspired figure installed on stage, providing a prominent sculptural element that connected the wider Hollywood styling with the principal event area.

Project Outcome

The completed installation turned the ballroom into a cohesive Hollywood-inspired environment built around recognisable cinematic imagery.

The illuminated entrance sequence created the strongest visual transformation, while oversized filmmaking props and awards-inspired decorative pieces carried the concept further into the venue. The combination of lighting, scale, repetition and familiar cinema references created an environment that felt theatrical without depending on excessive decorative layering.

Most importantly, the entire installation was completed within the three-hour changeover window despite the access limitations associated with the larger props. The client was delighted with the finished execution.
